Rbuass from Brazil just put up the fastest GTX680 3DMARK2001 score on HWBOT. Ronaldo is Brazil’s and South Americas best known overclocker. Good to see him rocking the GIGABYTE Z77X-UP5 TH! You can check out the result here!

Classic Mini-ITX N64 mod

Every now and again you come across a PC DIY mod that makes you stop and marvel at the creativity and workmanship. I have just been awed by this N64 HTPC mod from TheMadMati (yes, there is a fully functional x86 PC in there!):

The project can’t have been without its challenges due to the very limited space available (the PSU is a marvel on its own), and looking at the amount of plastic shavings lying around this there was a considerable amount of dremel work to be done.

The motherboard is a GIGABYTE E350N-USB3 Mini-ITX that has loads of HTPC connectivity options like 7.1-channel audio, HDMI and DVI ports, gigabit Ethernet and of course high speed USB 3.0 for transferring all those high-def media files. The onboard DX11 AMD Radeon HD6310 graphics is also impressive considering the low power consumption of this platform – definitely a massive upgrade from the original.

TheMadMati even hollowed out the cartridge and fitted an exhaust fan in it for improved airflow – very innovative!

HiCookie achieves new high CPU frequency with GIGABYTE Z77X-UP7, hits 7.112GHz!

When we said there was more to come from the Z77X-UP7, we were dead serious. Get a load of this. Our in-house overclocking guru HiCookie has just pushed the limits for an Intel Core i7 3770K to an incredible 7.112GHz. Catch the video below.

We see this as great indicator that the torch has now been passed from our first OC board, the X58-OC to the Z77X-UP7. You can learn more about the board and it’s OC features here.

Overclocking comp you shouldn’t miss!

HWBOT is organising an exciting competition for the month of September called GIGABYTE Classic Challenge2.

We’re talking old school benchmarks in this challenge, 32M SuperPi with unlimited cooling or clocks. 3D round has an interesting twist. It’s a low clock challenge in 3DMARK01 with a nature FPS cap and CPU MHz cap. Let’s see the tweakers come out and show off their skills. The MHz cap on nature opens the door for ATI cards to compete as well. Let’s see who’s got the right mix of hardware and tweaks to reign supreme in this test of efficiency and skill.

Main prize is none other than the GIGABYTE Z77X-UP7. That’s right people, UP7 up for grabs, time to put your benching shoes on!
